Starting his career in hospitality in Australia at the age of 15, Steven moved to England and earned his stripes, moving up the hospitality career ladder leading hotels and restaurants across the UK.
Steven has navigated many challenges and has celebrated many successes. He’s gone from zero to hero.
You may have only heard one side of his story, but the reality is that Steven has been flambéed, burnt to a high level, but the flambéing process only added to his experience, giving him even more flavour!
Using his savvy resilience during the pandemic, Steven has seen his three independent hotels not only survive, but thrive – each continuing to offer an extraordinarily high quality service for every clientele and customer.
Steven is passionate about continually growing his network and advocating for the industry.
He is a leader in many tourism led boards, including; being the Chair of Chester Hospitality Association, Vice-chair of Liverpool Hospitality Association and Steven was instrumental in driving the UK’s first Accommodation Business Improvement District across the line to help the city deliver key tourism events, marketing and destination management.
He also runs the yearly Hospitality People Awards in the two separate cities and also sits on the UK Hospitality Northern board – Steven is well connected, well informed and well aware, as he zealously continues on his mission to support and save the hospitality industry.
Steven is proud of his journey and success, and extremely proud of ‘Team Hesketh’ - hospitality is the core of what the family do and he is often joined by his wife of 25 years, twin girls and son, who are all involved in the family business. ‘Team Hesketh’ are great hospitability operators, who have a proven-track record of running great hotels; some say they are ‘the best in class, suave and savvy!’
